MUSIC VIDEO DIARY - 22/02/14

Today I went out to my chosen location and began some more of the filming of my music video. The particular scenes I was filming happened in the forest located in Hessle Foreshore, here I had a look around and took a few images of the area. In my opinion it was the perfect place to film, because there was plenty of trees and coverage around to give us a good amount of privacy while we filmed and also, I am planning to edit it to make it look darker in the forest on the editing suite at college. This will give it more of an emotional feel, because we will see the young girl walking on her own in this dimly lit gloomy forest, wondering what she can possiby do to make her situation better. It is a very emotional scene and we see her slumped down against a tree, looking hopeless and upset, we see her throughout the music video not accepting any help and instead isolating herself from the rest of the world however we see a revelation at the end of the music video because as she is sat on the forest floor upset and crying, we see a hand reach out towards her to help her up, and for the first time she accepts this help and reaches out to this person.  I think the idea of filming in this forest was good because in the filming it looks like a very gloomy, isolated place to be, this is why it links in with the young grl and almost reflects her as a person because she herself feels very isolated and upset, and of course this cold empty forest has extremely negative connotations which we will see throughout the music video, again showing the negative situation she feels she is trapped in. The idea of filming in the forest and the way that the branches and tree trunks twist around her surround her, is also portraying the way she feels so trapped. All in all I feel it was a very successfull shooting session.

MUSIC VIDEO DIARY - 21/02/14

Today me and Ruby decided to work on some makeup looks for her character in my music video. There was two particular looks that I felt could be appropriate for her character. The first look is very neutral and innocent, and shows that she feels a little bit lost and perhaps needs some guidance, it also makes her look more vunerable and alone which is something that I wanted to communicate to the audience about the girl right from the beginning of the music video. However the other makeup look is much darker and shows her wearing dark eye makeup and also bright dark red lips, this creates the idea of her being not so innocent, and perhaps shows her emotions as being quite angry and upset about what has happened, it perhaps shows her more fiesty side.

MUSIC VIDEO DIARY - 20/02/14

Today I have done some costume and outfit shoots. Me and my friend Ruby who is going to be the main character in my music video decided that today we would go to her house and have a look at some possibilities for costume and outfit ideas. I then took a couple of pictures of a couple of main outfits which I think would look good throughout the music video, and I wil post these images within the next couple of days. I decided on a very rock/indie kind of look, to portray the emotional events that appear to be happening throughout her life recently. This is because generally the type of people who conform to the stereotype of rock/emo look, are people who are steroetypically emotional/depressed or have had a hard difficult life, hence why they tend to listen to angrier faster music. This is why I have decided upon a grey/black cropped vest top with an image of a skull on it, with black skinny jeans and boots. Again this style links in with the heavy type of music, which in itself portrays the anger and emotions that the young girl is feeling.
